Barrington Hills Attorney Andrew Stoltmann Attended a Private Party with Tammy Duckworth, of Hoffman Estates, Who Was Sworn Into the U.S. Senate

Barrington Hills resident Andrew Stoltmann, an attorney with offices in Barrington and Chicago, is a longtime fan of U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth.

She once wrote an op-ed piece for The New York Times that profiled two of Stoltmann’s clients and the need for a fiduciary duty for investors. He’s also helped to raise money for Duckworth by hosting a fundraiser for her.”We bonded over an interest in the same issues, protecting investors from Wall Street abuses,” said Stoltmann, 45.

Last week, Stoltmann had the chance to see Duckworth get sworn in and he attended a private reception for her at the Army and Navy Club in Washington, D.C. He said the ceremony and the party the night before were “amazing.”

“There were many people from the military there, including a general,” Stoltmann said. “There were senators and congressman present. Tammy was near tears during her speech. It was a celebration of a very long journey and a really magical night.”

Stoltmann flew to Washington, D.C., with another friend, the Rev. Jesse Jackson. They first met in 2004 when Jackson, Stoltmann and 25 securities fraud victims of Lehman Brothers, which Stoltmann represented, had picketed by the Chicago office of Lehman Brothers. They picketed because of the firm’s policies that caused these clients to lose money, he said.

“Since then I’ve considered him (Jackson) a close friend and I’ve raised money for Rainbow Push,” Stoltmann said. “He is a wonderful human being. We flew out together and attended the celebration party Monday night for Tammy. Senators (Dick) Durbin and (Al) Franken were two of the five senators there. Also present was Raja Krishnamoorthi, a new House member from Schaumburg who won Tammy’s seat.”

Krishnamoorthi also was sworn in to represent the 8th Congressional District in the 115th Congress.

Stoltmann, who handles various investment-related legal cases, also represented Brianna Nelson, who said she was the niece of the late musician, Prince, in an estate case. He’s also president of the Public Investors Arbitration Bar Association, or PIABA. In his role at PIABA, he has traveled to D.C. in recent years to lobby on behalf of investor-related issues.

“I’ve come in contact with many more politicians in the last few years, which has caused me to raise money for ones who are pro legislation that protect investors,” Stoltmann said. “Tammy is one of the leaders in this area and should form an amazing duo with Elizabeth Warren in advocating for legislation to protect investors.”
